What is a Certified KiVa Trainer?

Certified KiVa Trainers have the right to train the end users, i.e. school staff, to use the KiVa Antibullying Program. The training of the school staff is of paramount importance as the staff of KiVa schools need to comprehend bullying, its mechanisms and consequences, the main ideas behind the KiVa program, the concrete program contents as well as how to implement the program efficiently.

In order to acquire (and maintain) the status of a certified KiVa trainer, one should

• be part of, or have official collaboration with, an organization serving as a licensed KiVa partner outside Finland,

• take part in the training for trainers (5 days) at the University of Turku, Finland; these training courses are organized twice a year of when needed, and

• update one’s expertise every second year by taking part in a Booster Training.

Training and resources for KiVa now available in the UK

Following a successful pilot trial of KiVa in Wales and Cheshire, three psychologists from Wales attended training in Finland and have been licensed to train both schools and KiVa trainers. The license covers the UK. See the attached links below for both school and trainer courses.
